The details of <em>Structural Engineering<\/em>\u2019s guidelines are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>I. Authors\u2019 Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li><strong> Reporting Standards<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Authors should follow <em>Structural Engineering<\/em> regulations to represent their work honestly, report credible results, and provide an objective discussion of them. Submitted manuscripts should contain reliable data and sufficient references. Manuscripts that violate academic ethics, including those containing misleading or inaccurate descriptions or statements, will not be accepted.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> Data Access and Retention<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Authors should store their own research data and be prepared to provide the raw data if needed for editorial review.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> Originality and Plagiarism<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Authors should ensure that their manuscripts represent their own original work. Authors should insert appropriate in-text citations with end-of-text information when referencing the works of others. Authors must not copy or plagiarize content from other manuscripts.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Submission and Publication<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Authors should not submit a previously published manuscript. Manuscripts to be published in <em>Structural Engineering<\/em> should not be available in another journal.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"5\">\n<li><strong> Acknowledgment of Sources<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Authors should make certain that they have correctly and clearly acknowledged others\u2019 work, and they should also cite the publications that have been influential in determining the nature of their reported work. A manuscript that lacks clear citations will be considered plagiarized.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"6\">\n<li><strong> Authorship of the Manuscript<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Those who significantly contributed to the conception, design, execution, data acquisition, or analysis of the study being reported should be listed as coauthors. All coauthors should approve the publication of the final version of the manuscript before submission.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"7\">\n<li><strong> Protecting Human or Animal Subjects<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The study should ensure the subjects\u2019 privacy. If the study involves human or animal subjects, the procedures that are conducted and all equipment, toxicants, or hazardous materials used should be clearly listed and identified within the manuscript. All of the procedures should be performed in compliance with relevant laws and guidelines.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"8\">\n<li><strong> Openness and Conflicts of Interests<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Authors should clearly and openly report any conflicts of interest that could influence the reporting or the results of the study. Such conflicts include employment relationships, patent licensing applications, and funding sources.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"9\">\n<li><strong> Fundamental Errors in Published Articles<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Authors should inform and provide prompt and accurate information to the editors concerning any significant errors identified in the published manuscript.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>II. Reviewers\u2019 Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li><strong> Contribution to Editorial Decisions<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Reviewers should assist editors by providing professional and constructive assessments to improve submitted manuscripts.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> Review Efficiency<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The reviewer should approach reviewing the manuscript in a timely fashion and should inform the editor immediately if the reviewer is not able to review the manuscript or if more time is needed.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> Confidentiality<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Reviewers should not reveal the contents of the manuscript or discuss them with anyone other than the assigned editors.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> Standards of Objectivity<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Reviewers should provide objective comments on aspects of the manuscript and on the manuscript as a whole. Where reviewers are unable to review a manuscript, they should notify the editors to formally decline the review invitation.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"5\">\n<li><strong> Acknowledgment of Sources<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Reviewers should attentively note whether previous research is or is not properly cited by the authors and inform editors of any similarity or overlap of content with any published report.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"6\">\n<li><strong> Openness and Conflicts of Interest<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Reviewers must not plagiarize any content from other sources. Reviewers with conflicts of interest, such as cooperation or competition with the submitting authors, should decline the review invitation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>III. Editors\u2019 Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li><strong> Peer Review<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Structural Engineering<\/em> adopts a peer review system. The editor is responsible for ensuring that the peer review process is fair, unbiased, and timely. Research articles are typically reviewed by at least two external and independent reviewers; when necessary,\u00a0 the editor may seek additional opinions.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> Publication Decisions<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The editor of the journal is solely and independently responsible for deciding what articles of those submitted to the journal will be published, often working in conjunction with the Chinese Society of Structural Engineering to make this determination. Validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always form the basis for such a decision. The editor may be guided by the policies of the journal\u2019s editorial board and constrained by any legal requirements that are then in force regarding libel, copyright infringement, plagiarism, and other issues. The editor may confer with other editors or with reviewers in making these decisions.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> Fair Play and Editorial Independence<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Editors should ensure that manuscripts are evaluated fairly, without consideration of the authors\u2019 personal characteristics, including their gender, sexual orientation, race, nationality, religious belief, political stance, etc.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"4\">\n<li><strong> Confidentiality<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The editors must protect the confidentiality of all materials submitted to the journal and all communications with the reviewers, unless otherwise agreed upon with the relevant authors and reviewers. The editor must protect the reviewers\u2019 identities unless they agree to disclose them.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"5\">\n<li><strong> Conflicts of Interests<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The editors should not use unpublished manuscripts for research purposes without permission from the authors. Editors should not use comments made by reviewers for their own personal advantage. Editors must avoid any conflicts of interest involving themselves, the authors, or the reviewers. They must not be involved in the decision-making process for manuscripts that they have authored themselves, those written by family members or colleagues, or those that relate to products or services in which the editor has an interest. Any such submissions must be handled using the journal\u2019s standard procedures, with peer review being managed independently by the relevant author\/editor and the relevant research groups.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"6\">\n<li><strong> Involvement and Cooperation in Investigations<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The editors and the publisher should take immediate action in cases where ethical concerns are raised with respect to a submitted or published manuscript. Relevant immediate action could involve contacting the authors, informing them of the ethical concerns, and contacting the relevant academic or research institution(s). If a report of an ethical concern is confirmed, the editors and the publisher should correct or retract the manuscript if it has been published, or clarify with respect to the concern to the interests involved.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>IV. <\/strong><strong>The Publisher\u2019s Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li><strong> Handling Unethical Publishing Behaviors<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In cases of unethical behaviors, the publisher and editors should take appropriate measures to clarify the situation and amend the manuscript in question. Appropriate measures could include the prompt publication of an erratum, a clarification, or, in the most severe case, the retraction of the affected work. If the manuscript violates academic ethics, including plagiarism, the publisher and editors should withdraw the manuscript from consideration for publication in <em>Structural Engineering<\/em>.<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\" start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> Access to Journal Content<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The publisher should be committed to the permanent availability and preservation of scholarly research and should ensure its accessibility by maintaining the digital archive.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>V. Use of Artificial Intelligence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>Structural Engineering<\/em> has adopted the COPE statement regarding the use of AI tools. This journal focuses on publishing practical engineering articles in the categories of \u201cOriginal Engineering Article,\u201d \u201cTechnical Research,\u201d \u201cStudy on Standards and Codes,\u201d \u201cEngineering Practice (planning, design, construction, management, etc.),\u201d \u201cEngineering Overview (technology, case studies, new developments, etc.),\u201d and an \u201cQ&amp;A Column\u201d related to structural engineering and technology. The articles are published quarterly in March, June, September, and December each year.<\/p>\n<p>The engineering overview articles submitted to this journal must reflect the author\u2019s own work, insights, and suggestions for improvement, rather than mere general overviews or literature reviews. Translations or articles already published elsewhere will not be accepted. For theoretical articles that are overly complex or cover obscure topics, submission to other journals is recommended. The journal accepts manuscripts in either English or Chinese. However, submissions in English are encouraged, as this helps enhance the global visibility. Each submission must include the name(s) of the author(s) and an abstract in both Chinese and English. Simultaneous submission of the manuscript to multiple journals is not permitted.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I. Submission and Review Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>All submissions must be made online at: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipress.tw\/J0292\">https:\/\/www.ipress.tw\/J0292<\/a> (the journal website).<\/li>\n<li>To maintain the quality standards of the articles of this journal, manuscripts submitted hereto must be reviewed by at least two referees recommended by the Society\u2019s \u201cEditorial and Publication Committee\u201d and shall be published only upon successful review with a recommendation for acceptance.<\/li>\n<li>After peer review, authors should revise their manuscripts according to the reviewers\u2019 comments and resubmit them, along with the \u201cAuthor\u2019s Response to Reviewer Comments,\u201d to the aforementioned submission website.<\/li>\n<li>This journal adopts a single-blind (single-anonymized) peer-review process, where the reviewers know the identities of the authors, while the authors do not know the identities of the reviewers<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>II. Copyright Statement:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Authors bear full responsibility for any infringement of copyrights, patents, intellectual property rights, or trade secrets arising from the content of their articles. The journal assumes no liability in such matters. No part of any article may be reproduced or reprinted without the prior consent of the publisher.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>III. Manuscript Format<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The paper title should be in 16-pt font, section headings in 14-pt font, body text in 12-pt font, English in 12-pt Times New Roman or Chinese in 12-pt BiauKai font.<\/li>\n<li>Manuscripts can be either in Chinese or English. The entire manuscript should not exceed 18,000 words; the file should not exceed 32 pages (including abstracts, figures, tables, etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Titles must be provided in both Chinese and English.<\/li>\n<li>Authors: Provide names, affiliations, and email addresses in Chinese and English. For the corresponding author, include telephone number, institutional address, and email address.<\/li>\n<li>Abstracts: Provide both Chinese and English abstracts. The Chinese abstract should not exceed 500 words, the English abstract should not exceed 300 words.<\/li>\n<li>Keywords: Place 3 to 6 keywords right below the abstract.<\/li>\n<li>Text:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>(1) The main text should generally be structured using the following headings: Introduction, Research Content or Methodology, and Conclusions.<\/p>\n<p>(2) Formulas and equations must be clearly typed, with the equation number indicated in parentheses afterwards, and a blank line above and below each equation.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"8\">\n<li>Figures and Tables:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>(1) Figures and tables must be numbered in citation order and include captions.<\/p>\n<p>(2) Figures must have a resolution of at least 300 dpi.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"9\">\n<li>Acknowledgments: If any, place before the References.<\/li>\n<li>Reference Citation Style: Cite using numbered brackets [1], [2], [3], \u2026<\/li>\n<li>Reference Format: The journal adopts the AMA (American Medical Association) style. List up to six authors. If a reference includes a digital object identifier (DOI), it should be placed at the end of the citation.
